Nyanja Culture

Our Nkholongue people are always eager to see Mbuna Bay guests strolling through the village. They will happily give you an introduction to their way of life, show you their simple houses, the outside kitchen with the fireplace, and before you’re aware of it a dozen children will chat and laugh around you.

Early in the morning a visit to the village beach is a special attraction. At this time the fishermen return with their catch from the night and crowds of people are rushing to get their share of Usipa, Chambo or even Catfish.

The Lodge has motivated several villagers to produce various handicrafts which they sell at the lodge. Should you be interested, you can participate in the making of pottery and jewelry, carving of different woods or painting “African style” with our local artists.
